I will introduce a class of random fractal measures on Rd which turn out to satisfy very strong intersection properties with planes and surfaces. Examples are fractal percolations, cut-out measures generated by a shape-valued Poisson point process, and products of such measures. I will then describe some applications of these intersection results to problems in analysis and geometry.
