Fast and slow points of Birkhoff sums

Abstract:
We investigate the growth rate of the Birkhoff sums of continuous functions with zero mean defined on the unit circle T along rotations for ``typical'' elements of T^2. The answer depends on the meaning given to the word ``typical''. Part of the work is done in a more general context. This talk is based on a joint work with Frédéric Bayart and Yanick Heurteaux.
