    Sommersemester 2013

    Group actions on algebraic varieties
The purpose of the course is to give an introduction to geometric invariant theory at an advanced undergraduate level. We will start by looking at group actions on sets and topological spaces, and then move on to the setting of affine and projective varieties.

    • Typical semester: 5th and above
    • ECTS points: 3
    • Office hour: Tue 9-10, Raum 425, Eckerstraße 1.

    Sommersemester 2011

    Introduction to toric varieties
The aim of this course is to acquaint the audience with the basics of toric geometry, which is an elegant mixture of algebra, combinatorics and geometry. We will mainly follow the excellent recent book "Toric varieties" by Cox, Little, and Schenck, which up to now has been made available online here. Contrary to all appearances, the lectures will be conducted in German.

    • Lectures: Wednesday 10-14 Raum 403, Eckerstraße 1.
    • Typical semester: 5th and above
    • ECTS points: 3
    • Office hour: Wed 9-10, Raum 425, Eckerstraße 1.
